Sharing and promoting my fundraiser

What can I do to make my fundraiser as successful as possible?

Promoting your fundraiser: Share, share, share! The most important thing is to share your fundraiser page as much as possible with your network and others. How?

Personal messages: Send the link to your fundraiser page via a personal message to your network. This can be done with email, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Don't just ask people to donate, but also to share the fundraiser onwards.

Social Media: Posting and sharing the fundraiser page on social media. Use the handy share buttons under the header photo on your fundraiser page to share on social media. Don't just ask people to donate, but also to share the fundraiser further.

Do you have your own (company) Facebook page? Place the fundraiser page link in a post and pin it to the top of your page/timeline.

Post a message with the link to your fundraiser page on relevant Facebook groups that are engaged or involved with the cause or subject for which you are collecting.

News Media: Get your fundraiser in the spotlight; contact the news media (local and national/print, online, radio, and TV)! These are usually very interested in placing crowdfunding campaigns. Google the news media; usually, the contact email address and/or telephone number of the editors can be found on the site. With the publication of your story and your Spendenaktion you can reach a lot of people at once.

Collectors: Invite collectors who can help you further share your fundraiser. This can be, for example, family, friends, acquaintances, or colleagues. Everyone has their own network. Collectors can share the fundraiser page under their own name. People are more likely to donate to people they know. You can do this in your dashboard under 'Collectors' -> Invite collector.

Collectors can also register themselves on the fundraiser page (button 'Become a collector').

Poster: Spendenaktion offers the possibility to download and print a poster of your campaign. Hang the posters in as many places as possible where public passes by. A QR code is shown on the poster. People only need to scan the QR code with their mobile phone's camera, which reveals a direct link to your campaign page. One click further and they can donate.

If you follow these points carefully, you will reach a lot of people and increase the chance of donations. Without sharing, little/no donations will come in.

Design a great fundraiser page: a good presentation is important!

Make sure the design of your page is as good as it can be. A strong and credible presentation is important to win over donors.

These are our tips for making your campaign page as good as possible:

Header photo/image: Add a compelling header photo or image that immediately captures the essence of your cause. This is your main visual expression of your fundraiser. One image says more than a 1000 words!

Title: Come up with a strong catchy title for your fundraiser.

Short description: give a short and concise description of what it is you are raising funds for.

Story: tell the story behind the cause and the necessity of the fundraiser in a more detailed description. A personal story creates more involvement and willingness to donate.

Additional images and video: Add additional photo’s, images, graphics or even a YouTube video that can further clarify the action and make it attractive and understandable for readers.

Profile picture: add a profile picture of yourself. This makes your fundraiser more personal and credible. Donors like to see the face and person behind the fundraiser.

Organisations or groups: is the fundraiser for an organisation, group or team? For example, a club, association, school, class, team, foundation, charity, company, church, non-profit organization, etc. Add the group or organisation and link it to your fundraiser. This makes the fundraiser more credible and gives donors more understanding of where thier money will be going to.

Target amount and end date: Set a target amount and an end date (not compulsory!). Fundraisers with a target amount and/or an end date receive more donations than actions without. You can change both the target amount and the end date during the course of the fundraiser.

News/updates: post news updates: donors are more likely to participate if they can regularly read news updates about your fundraising campaign. This creates more involvement and the chance that they will share the action with others, become a collector or even donate again.
